Revisiting words

It has been a while since I read/wrote poems, so when a friend pinged me asking if I had any on Love, I replied "yes, but have to dig em out of the blog". He kept at it saying another friend was doing a book, a collection of poems and collecting them from many.

I kinda forgot about it and then 2 days back he was back with an sms asking me about it. I finally dug a few out and sent it to Glory[ a friend & a writer].. She then got back saying she was picking few others from the blog and wanted me to arrange them like a verse and send them to her. She had edited and put together this book called "The heart only whispers" that featured 60 poems from writers across the world. She told me she would include mine in the next edition of the same book she was rolling out soon.

Damn right I was excited~!!

[The book cover design is a piece of art by Amitabh Mitra who is also one of the contributors]

There was a book launch scheduled for Sunday evening at Odyssey, Adyar. I made note of the details and was there around 5.30.. It was a good evening indeed. It was such pleasure meeting ladies I had not met in ages, reading poems [3 of mine & others] ....

Here is a photograph featuring a few of us who were there last evening...

Thanks Glory for this lovely opportunity and for being so passionate and warm and giving!!

3WW... Might of the word

After a brief hiatus, am back on 3WW

I cant control them anymore, the words seem to pour out for no reason. Every day as i wake up, the only thought on my mind is "what will it be today?" And when work hits me like a comet, i cant be indifferent towards my client's needs and say,"no, i shall write only what i feel like".

At times, it gets a bit frustrating, for my mind is elsewhere while my hands strain to type within the fixed outline. But still, i have noticed, that i manage to do full justice to whatever i write, and the finished product makes me smile...

I love writing~~~

Well, i started writing about 2yrs back, and it was with creative writing that i began this journey. To think that today i actually write for a living and am loving it, makes me wonder if this is what i was meant to do and it took me all these years to figure it out~~ :)

[Writer's island] Over the horizon

From the hammock in the balcony
i watched the sun take a peek
slwoly rising from behind the towering building
it made its way into the clear blue sky

I watched in wonder
amazed at this beauty
and wondered what was behind
the shimmering sun's rays

over the horizon
i knew new opportunities
unexplored ventures
waiting for me to open doors
and take a dive into this world

the sun's rays bathing my life
with its brightness
i watched this sight
in wonder.....

Chills and thrills

four seasons
we know em all
i was yet to see
what Winter felt like

living here in this warm land
i knew not what it was
to feel cold
to put on mittens and gloves

knew not what it was
to wear sweaters
to cuddle up in front of the fire....

.........
.........

and then it happened
was beautiful
little drops of ice
sitting pretty on the fence

sun,taking a peek
clouds, bright and white
cool air flowing through my hair
ah,i now knew it
i knew what winter was.

wish i could take you back
lock you up in a box
hide you in my closet
for me to savor everyday...

Butterfly....

Sitting atop that pretty flower
i saw your wings glisten in the sunlight
colorful and light you flitted about
worries i am sure u had none at all

Going about your day like you normally do
filled with courage to make it in this world
Delicate and gentle are your wings
your life i am sure is free as it can be

butterfly, butterfly, i wish i was you
living through each day as if it were new
Loving and caring my smiles filling the air
what a joy it would be if i were so free

i wish i was you
i wish......
