Hold on..

The swish of the wind
bellowing in my ears
Taking me back,to
days flown by.

Memories flooding my thoughts
Alternating- happy and sad,
I held on tight
to today's dreams .

Reaching for the stars
like i always do
Little drops of doubt
lingered in my mind.

Challenges and learnings
i hope to gain
Was that all it took
to complete my life?

Aspirations, i had many
cached in the chest within my heart
knew not when i shall unleash em
Hoped i did.

"That day too shall come"
my inner voice chided
jolting me back to today
hope and dreams

Here i come....

[55er] Dream

Driving back home, my thoughts began to wander.

"What if the guy and gal weren’t killed?"

“What if the girl’s brother had set them free?”

"What if the store guy hadn’t agreed to the sting operation?”

Would the story move so well, or would it have become boring...

Honkkkkkkkkkkk

Jeez, the signal is Green already!!

Path

The road ahead
winding and long

footsteps,and shadow

are all i see coming along

Where does it lead to
am tempted to ask
Adventure and excitement
i put on the mask

In the distance
i see a faint glow

something pushes me ahead
like pebbles fighting against the river flow

Where does it lead to do
i dare wonder?
Or wait for the discovery
Oh yonder?

Time flies by
with the baby hand on the clock

My life, i hope
is what the path will unlock.........

Towering

Towering high
majestic and grand
decked in bright red
with rings of light on your neck
you came waltzing towards me

fear, excitment and a rush
ripping through me in all directions
knew not what was in store
heart beating faster
hands itching to click

not one, or two, but
quite a handful
big steps, looming large
closing the distance,
i saw the gentleness in you

words of awe and admiration
gasps, and claps

frenzy of emotions
engulfing me from around

drawing me into your act

all the way across the world
a small country i know is your home
larger than life ideas, thoughts
never seen before
overwhelming us all

parading as if you owned the space
dancing to the beats
twirling and swirling
flirting and romancing
you had us all spell bound
while, time flew by quietly

Towering......
The Giraffes ruled the evening!!!

Just felt like writing these few words after witnessing an interesting act today evening as part of the Chennai sangamam - a cultural fest over a week, coming to an end tomorow... This was from Bonjour India~!!

Chills and thrills

four seasons
we know em all
i was yet to see
what Winter felt like

living here in this warm land
i knew not what it was
to feel cold
to put on mittens and gloves

knew not what it was
to wear sweaters
to cuddle up in front of the fire....

.........
.........

and then it happened
was beautiful
little drops of ice
sitting pretty on the fence

sun,taking a peek
clouds, bright and white
cool air flowing through my hair
ah,i now knew it
i knew what winter was.

wish i could take you back
lock you up in a box
hide you in my closet
for me to savor everyday...

Caferati - readmeet of sorts - 18th Nov

Last Saturday we had our meet at Mocha, and this time it was not the usual write something on a topic, read it out, etc kinda readmeet.. it was filled with exercises that helped us go beyond our realm and look for words that would remain with us and help us change our writing styles..

here is one such exercise.. we were all teamed in 3's and given a sentence and had to build a story.. something we've done in schoool or college.. where one person would write a sentence, fold the paper, pass it on and so on.. finally the complete story is read out and trust me, it cant get any hilarious...wacko.. crazyyy ;)

Writers : Lavanya, Sharanya, Aaarti
The sentence given to begin with - 'There is never enough sugar in Mocha'

'There is never enough sugar in Mocha', said Shilpi, as she licked the spoon dark with chocolate that dripped down to her cleavage and mingled with the sweat in her valley, like a river of mud.

Shilpi had recently been in a TV commercial purportedly for shampoo, the highlight of which was a close-up on said bounteous bosoms with the glowing words 'Volume Boost' emblazoned across them. She put the
spoon down and sighed.

Staring at the TV, she could feel her eyes water and mouth go dry. She longed for a Paneer Frankie and a cold coffee.

'Waiter', she called, and a tall man in a hat and handlebar moustache appeared, hiding a conspicuous bulge in his too-tight red silk pants, with a little teacup with floral engravings along the edge.

'I'm coming, ma'am, I'm coming', he said, a little too enthusiastically. 'give me some sugar', she said. The bulbous waiter nearly fell over, composed himself, then scuttled away again.

She waited and waited, grew tired, and just got off the seat, marched into the kitchen, taking the waiter by his collar and stared him down.

'I knew you would come here', the waiter said, his name tag - Senthilnathan Anbazhagan - gleaming menacingly in the harsh glow of the lone kitchen bulb.

'Oh really?', she replied dismissively, 'Did your horoscope tell you that? Your parrot astrology?" And with that, she stood up and swayed off, swishing her hair. .... ;o)

Quotes about writing.. interesting...

Some cool quotes on writing that i came across..

The reason one writes isn't the fact he wants to say something. He writes because he has something to say. F. Scott Fitzgerald

Forget all the rules. Forget about being published. Write for yourself and celebrate writing. Melinda Haynes

My purpose is to entertain myself first and other people secondly. John D. MacDonald

Writing is the only thing that, when I do it, I don't feel I should be doing something else.
Gloria Steinem

If the doctor told me I had six minutes to live, I'd type a little faster. Isaac Asimov

Writing a novel is like driving a car at night. You can only see as far as your headlights, but you can make the whole trip that way.
E. L. Doctorow

A writer never has a vacation. For a writer life consists of either writing or thinking about writing. Eugene Ionesco

All the words I use in my stories can be found in the dictionary - it's just a matter of arranging them into the right sentences.
Somerset Maugham

Exercise the writing muscle every day, even if it is only a letter, notes, a title list, a character sketch, a journal entry. Writers are like dancers, like athletes. Without that exercise, the muscles seize up.
Jane Yolen

If you read good books, when you write, good books will come out of you.
Natalie Goldberg

Moving around is good for creativity: the next line of dialogue that you desperately need may well be waiting in the back of the refrigerator or half a mile along your favorite walk.
Will Shetterly

If you think that something small cannot make a difference, try going to sleep with a mosquito in the room.
Anonymous

Every bush can burn if you fire it with your imagination.
Stanislaw Jerzy Lec

A good many young writers make the mistake of enclosing a stamped, self-addressed envelope, big enough for the manuscript to come back in. This is too much of a temptation to the editor.
Ring Lardner
